Jeremy Tabarrok - CIM, Senior Wealth Advisor, Portfolio Manager

Jeremy TabarrokFor the past decade, Jeremy has been dedicated to providing exceptional client service as a Portfolio Manager with ScotiaMcLeod. He is fully licensed in securities and insurance and has completed the CIM, CSC, CPH and LLQP insurance exams, as well as the Wealth Management, Advanced Investment Strategies, Fundamentals in Derivatives courses as well as being fully Options licensed.

Jeremy and his team have acquired a diverse knowledge of investments and capital markets, which they have translated into a well-developed and disciplined financial planning process. An ever-changing world presents new market challenges every day. Jeremy helps his clients navigate this changing environment to achieve their goals through conservative investment management and customized financial plans.

When Jeremy isn’t watching the markets he is keenly interested in the arts. As an avid collector, he has been quoted in the press (CBC, Reuters and Side Street Review) on the topic of “Art and Investing”. He has been involved with a number of arts boards, such as The International Photographers, Crow's Theatre and the past chair of artsScene, which encourages people to give back to the arts through volunteerism and using their professional expertise at the board level.

Ian Adams, CFP, FMA, Senior Financial Consultant

Ian AdamsIan has extensive experience providing financial planning advice to clients with complex and sophisticated needs and goals. He draws on the breadth of expertise that he has developed over his 17 years in the financial sector. Ian has obtained the Master of Business Administration degree from Queen’s University. In addition to this, he holds the Certified Financial Planner designation, the Financial Management Advisor designation and has completed the Canadian Securities Course through the Canadian Securities Institute. Memberships include the Financial Planning Standards Council.

John Michael Durrant

John Michael DurrantJohn Michael is our team's Insurance Specialist. John Michael joined ScotiaMcLeod in 2002, holds an Honours degree and has over 10 years' experience in the insurance field. Within our group, John Michael focuses on tax-driven insurance strategies and estate planning. We look to assist our high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and business owners in meeting their specific goals for building, preserving and passing on their wealth. Where appropriate, these strategies can include tax-sheltered accumulation, enhanced income, reductions of estate tax, and elimination of deferred embedded tax in privately-held companies.

Malcolm Burrows

Jeremy TabarrokMalcolm is a philanthropic planner and advisor to private clients and leads Canada’s largest national private foundation business. He joined the Scotiabank Group® in 2004 after spending 13 years with three major Toronto charities.

He is active in the charitable sector as a speaker, writer, and he is frequently quoted by the media. He is Course Director for the Canadian Association of Gift Planners’ Canadian Gift Planning, the longest running course in Canadian philanthropy. As past-chair and member of the Government Relations Committee of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners he has contributed to the development of new charitable tax incentives, including the elimination of capital gains on gifts of public securities.
